Castle on the Sea
The quaint and beautiful city Meersburg sits right off Bodensee (Lake Constance) in Germany. Never before have I walked anywhere that was as perfectly balanced in peace, culture, ecstasy and beauty. Very often my eyes would be lost in its picturesque scenery and my mind mesmerized in its elegant charm. The name “Meersburg” translates to “Castle on the Sea” and is the oldest castle in Germany to still be inhabited. The city is categorized into two parts, Unterstadt (Lower Town) and Oberstadt (Upper Town) and connected by Steigstrasse; two staircases and a steep sidewalk. This medieval architecture of narrow streets and stairs is intolerant of cars and influences serenity throughout the small city. The fairytale romance inspires blissful days, long walks, even after the sun kisses the water, and early mornings by the coast to have my favorite, lattes and strudel!
