Expression Through Self Portraits

I will not force my subject into something it’ll never be, but rather emphasize everything that already is.

An artist is a navigator. They forth see their vision and guide their subject, not pick it apart.

So why must we pick out all our flaws and imperfections? So why must we always think we are not enough and not see everything we already are?

To me this photo captures what it feels like to be trapped by the mindlessness of social media, being controlled by instant gratification so much so that you can’t feel anything small. Losing zest for your own goals and own life. Being controlled and stuck. Weighted down by a world we could never fix, so discouraged it isn’t worth trying.

Self imagery is an art form that has taken a lot of confidence for me to build up to. It is easy for me to critique and pick apart my own flaws and imperfections.

Therefore, creating a self-portrait is a very intimate process; you mustn’t look for all that isn’t, but embrace all that is willing to be.
